Two men are due to appear in court on Friday charged with terrorism offences, the Metropolitan police have said.
Imran Khawaja, 26, of Southall, west London, and Tahir Bhatti, 44, of Watford, Hertfordshire, were arrested by counter-terrorism officers in Dover on Tuesday.
Khawaja is accused of preparing to commit terrorist acts, receiving training in the use of firearms and attending a place for terrorist training. Bhatti has been charged with assisting Khawaja to commit terrorist acts.
It is understood the charges relate to the preparation of acts of terrorism outside the UK.
Officers have searched a number of addresses in west London and a property in Hertfordshire as part of the investigation.
They will both appear at Westminster magistrates court in central London.
